"Find the best antique and vintage collector books and price guides on antiques and collectibles that appraisers and dealers use plus expert collecting book reviews at Collectics Antique Collector Bookstore." World Antiques Weekly

The exceptional beauty of Pairpoint glass lamps has been cherished since their origin in New Bedford, Massachusetts between 1907 and 1929. Now, for the first time, the complete range and diversity of these magnificent, softly glowing works of art are shown together in a useful source and reference Pairpoint Lamps by Edward and Sheila Malakoff. There were three main types of shades, all of which were blown: puffy - blown-out reverse-painted shades (usually floral designs); ribbed - also reverse painted; and scenic - reverse painted with scenes of land or seascapes (usually executed on smooth surfaces, although ribbed scenics may be found occasionally). All Pairpoint shades were frosted through an acid process prior to painting, and the reverse painted effects required a great deal of talent on the part of the artist. Reverse painting combined the skills of watercolor painting and glassmaking with a perception of how light would play through the glass and paint when lit. More than 200 full-color photographs, excerpts from company catalogs, and advertisements detail the designs, shade styles and sizes, and serial numbers of the lamps. A rarity guide is included. The book features chapters on the beautiful variations of shade styles, including puffy, ribbed, and scenic; and chandelier, non-electrified, and floor lamps.
